Allen & Heath ZED-6 OverviewAllen & Heath Releases New ZED Series MixersRead MoreAllen & Heath ZED-6, ZED-6FX and ZEDi-8Designed to bring the signature Allen & Heath sensibility to a compact and portable frame, the ZED-6 is a six-input analog mixer. Solo musicians, lectures, and small bands alike can find this unit suitable for modest venues, hotels, churches, and schools. The ZED-6 is crafted with preamps modeled on the Allen & Heath GS2-R24, and, as such, aims to provide low noise, warmth, and a vast expanse of headroom. On-board two-band MusiQ EQs also come standard with the unit, as well as 48V phantom power for the two mic inputs. Guitar players using the ZED-6 need not lug an extra DI box around, as the unit features two high-impedance guitar inputs. Channels three and four host dual 1/4″ stereo line-level inputs. You can monitor the outputs of the mixer either through headphones or through two XLR outputs, utilizing an eight-LED meter all the while. If you’d like to hear a sound source before placing it within the audible mix, simply press the PFL button located at the bottom of each channel strip.Key Features 2x Mic/Line inputs with separate XLR and TRS jack sockets 2x Stereo inputs with TRS jack sockets 2x Guitar DI high-impedance inputs, eliminating the need for DI boxes High-pass filter for cleaning up unwanted low-frequency noise 2-band EQ for tonal shaping 60mm smooth travel fader on main mix XLR main outputs 8x LED signal metering 48V Phantom Power for condenser mics Internal power supply In the BoxAllen & Heath ZED-6 Compact Analog MixerLimited 1-Year WarrantyNews, Tips and ReviewsLearn How to Record Audio for Video and FilmExplora Admin 2 years agoUser Manual2.2 MBAllen & Heath ZED-6 SpecsMixerNumber of Analog Input Channels6 (2 Mono / 2 Stereo)Number of Mic Preamps2Analog Output Channels1 x Stereo Master Output1 x Stereo Headphone OutputFaders4 x Channel FaderMetersMain Meter:2 x 8-Segment LEDSignal ProcessingEQ ParametersLow: at 80 Hz High: at 12 kHz Filters2 x High-Pass: 100 Hz Built-In EffectsNoneConnectivityAnalog Inputs2 x XLR 3-Pin Mic Input2 x 1/4″ TRS Line Input4 x 1/4″ TRS Line Input (2 Stereo Pairs)Analog Outputs2 x XLR 3-Pin Main Output1 x 1/4″ TRS Headphone OutputPhantom PowerYesPowerAC Input Power100 to 240 VAC, 50 / 60 Hz Power Consumption12 WPhysicalRack MountableNoDimensions3.5 x 9.8 x 9.3″ / 88.9 x 246.4 x 236.2?mmWeight2.8?lb / 1.3?kgPackaging InfoPackage Weight5 lbBox Dimensions (LxWxH)14.7 x 11.7 x 5.3″Allen & Heath ZED-6 ReviewsJust enough.By DougRated 5 out of 5Date: 2021-12-12Perfect for what I needed. Used to feed a USB interface. Only need stereo main outs, no fx or aux needed. And as always the high quality of A&H. Really appreciate A&H thinking simple and for the little guy.Best of the Small Analog MixersBy JohnRated 5 out of 5Date: 2018-07-27I’ve tried the 3 major brands that produce small mixers of this type and (in my opinion) this is the best (by far).
The layout and color coding of the dials is the easiest to see while working quickly, the angled positioning of the mixer itself (as opposed to lying flat – as most others do) also makes it far easier to see and operate, the cabinet material (which seems like ABS plastic) is lighter and more durable than other mixers, and (most importantly) I can detect absolutely NO sound coloration when using this mixer.
One especially nice feature of this mixer is that it has a PPL circuit (which you won’t find on other small mixers) so that you can adjust your mix with headphones before sending it to the main outputs.
I should note that the Main Outputs on this mixer are XLR connections – which may leave you without proper cable if you are use to 1/4″ outputs (there is also no Control Room Outs – just Main).
The only flaw I can mention is that the knobs are a bit close together and difficult to turn in order to do (on the fly) adjustments (such as creative panning and FX control)…however it is a very small mixer so I can’t really fault Allen & Heath for that…some practice helps a great deal.
I also own the FX model – which is exactly the same as this one – with the addition of an excellent bank of (professional) effects – with presets that increase intensities on some….however Allen & Heath (oddly) does not include the list of effects in their instuction guide (you have to download them from their site – or learn them by ear).
The only other comment I have is that (I’ve found) Customer Service at Allen & Heath (in the UK) to be very poor – and they don’t respond to technical questions (such as, “where can I get a list of the built in FX?”) – but, if you live in the USA, their US distributor will immediately respond to any questions you have.Professional hobbieBy AnonymousRated 5 out of 5Date: 2016-12-27Great product, use it on my small gig events, mic inputs sound amazing coming out of my QSC K12. I love the at I can use XLR inputs into the ZED-6 mixer great balance. ZED-6 built very tuff and stronger for mobile and home use.Great!!!!By GeorgeRated 5 out of 5Date: 2021-08-10I’m very picky, I needed a mic mixer to plug into my DJ mixer because my DJ mixer only offers 1 mic input. I purchased a Mackie $100 mixer and the feedback hiss was unbearable. A sales associate at UNCUCO recommended this mixer and for the price it’s no comparison and it’s awesome!Simple QualityBy TimRated 5 out of 5Date: 2020-09-15This is a sure thing, plug and play, no real frills but everything is high quality.See any errors on this page?
