This 24×2 desktop mixer, offered here in a Shelford Blue finish, is designed to take in-the-box mixing to the next level, extending the same analog circuitry and routing schemes offered by high-end mixing desks to smaller studios.Need summing? The 5060 has you covered with driveable Class-A buses to get you the glue. Want Neve’s trademark Silk coloration? The 5060 delivers up to 3-times more optional coloration by initiating the Silk Blue and Silk Red effects present on the Portico. How about precision monitor control and a desktop transport control over your DAW? Yes, the 5060 effortlessly provides for these functions as well. Whether working alone or if you are set up in tandem with other Rupert Neve Designs gear, the 5060 Centerpiece is a surefire way of getting classic console tone and functionality at your home or boutique studio. The Sound of a British Class-A Console on Your DesktopThe 5060 employs a Class-A topology, key to securing a more detailed, sweeter, and spacious mix. With zero crossover distortion and unmatched purity, the 5060 delivers the sound of a 5088 console to your desktop. To get more dynamic harmonic content out of the mix bus, you can push the levels on the input channels into the mix bus to find the sweetspot in your setup.Custom TransformersBeyond ensuring a signal free of group-loop noise, Rupert’s custom transformers in the 5060 are responsible for its larger than life sound. To accentuate the classic tone from the output transformers, you can use the Silk and Texture controls to dial in the desired amount of coloration, depending on what each mix needs.Silk CircuitryThe Silk circuitry provided on the master bus of the 5060 is the same circuit used in many other world-renowned Rupert Neve Designs pieces. Roughly speaking, the two different Silk colors model different vintage desks that Rupert Neve designed back in the 20th century. To put a simpler point on it however: Silk Red uses saturation to enhance the high-mid and high-end frequency ranges, while Silk Blue reinforces the lows and low mids. Add lush presence to dull sounds with Red, or add beef to thinner sounds with Blue.Stereo Faders for Channels 1 through 8The 100mm faders determine the level of stereo-input channels 1 through 8, giving the user up to +10 dB of additional line gain. Channels 1 through 8 can be either stereo (effectively pairing of the first 16 channels into 2×8 2-channel groups), or they can be mono channels. These channels offer both mute switches and inserts for patching in additional gear. The insert sends of channels 1-2 and 3-4 have optional talkback assignment for use when feeding channels 1-8 through the 5060 to multichannel cue systems. The insert sends on channels 1-8 may also be used as a pre-fader send to a multitrack recorder.Stereo Inputs Channels 9 to 24In addition to the more controllable fader setup of stereo channels 1 through 8, the 5060 offers eight active stereo inputs with rotary faders for additional stem and aux inputs.Drive Your Stereo Bus However You WantA 100mm stereo fader provides level control for the master stereo bus, outputting to both the stereo bus monitor signal and the stereo master output. For adding compression and EQ to the mix bus, there is also a transformer-coupled insert engaged by the Insert switch.Multiple Talkback OptionsThe included talkback mic is activated by depressing the Talkback switch. The Talkback has level control, a direct out, and assignment to insert sends 1-2 and 3-4, so you can address separate people in the studio individually, if need be.When the talkback switch is depressed, the speaker output levels are lowered according to the setting of the Dim control. A talkback remote may also be plugged into the 1/4″ talkback remote input on the back of the 5060.Full Transport controlStandard transport functions in DAWs including play, stop, record, fast-forward, rewind, loop, shuttle / jog and marker drop are controlled through MIDI or USB interconnection.Monitor Source SelectionSelect the monitor source from either the stereo bus, or three external monitor inputs. This allows you to make comparisons if need be. You can also route external media players to the monitors through the External to Monitoring connection.Monitor SelectA Monitor Select button enables you to select among three speaker outputs. By holding the Mon 3 button, the Monitor 3 outs will latch to On, allowing both Monitors 1 and 2 to be used with subwoofers or speakers in the cutting room.10W Class-A Headphone AmpFor private monitoring, a 10W, Class-A reference-grade headphone amplifier is on hand, complete with its own level control. The headphone signal follows the selection of the monitor select.Monitor Level ControllerFor keeping track of your monitor levels, a precision, 21-step attenuator provides highly accurate left/right stereo tracking, as well as perfect repeatability. A handy DIM switch is also on hand, so you’re in control of how loud the DIM level is.Comfortable, Familiar MeteringTwin VU meters display the RMS signal level of the selected monitor source, and the peak indicator illuminates red when the peak threshold has been exceeded.U
