The S19i Electret-Condenser Microphone for Cello by AMT is specifically designed for miking cellos, and is intended to clamp onto the instrument’s tail piece, allowing for safe, quick and easy removal, for traveling or for microphone storage. The S19i is identical sonically to the S18C, but includes upgraded features, such as its clamp-to-tailpiece mounting, D.C.T. (a disconnecting cable), and the user’s ability to choose from a number AMT’s various mic preamps, if desired. The microphone is designed to use a very tight microphone Polar pick-up pattern to give high rejection to extraneous surrounding noise, and at the same time, reproduce accurately the subtleties of the cello.
As placement is especially important with an instrument that has a fine finish and varying dimensions, this microphone’s attachment mechanism is designed to secure the mic to the tailpiece of the cello, while allowing the gooseneck to be placed in different positions. The flex arm is easy to position and is engineered to retain its placement throughout active performances. The attachment mechanism is spring-loaded, and can be attached onto the tailpiece with one hand.
The AMT Inline Preamp is included, and phantom power is required. The output is terminated with a single male XLR type connector for balanced use, and the mic is connected to the pre-amp by a four pin locking connector. The S19i is manufactured with lightweight aluminum in order to keep the mass low.
The S19i comes complete with the Inline preamp, carry pouch, and AMT disconnecting cable technology to allow the microphone to be used wireless with the AMT Wi5IIC, Shure Line 6, or Sabine Wireless. Sennheiser cable sold separately. The microphone is manufactured by hand.Manufactured by handDesigned for celloClamp-to-tailpiece mountingD.C.T.
