Rather than housing the capsule in the body, the TF10 incorporates a lollipop-style configuration to free it from undue acoustic interference. The capsule features a special 3-chambered design that optimizes its tonal characteristics and transient response for an ultrarealistic and natural sound. Capable of handling high SPLs and passing output levels up to 10V without distortion, the TF10 is well suited for low-noise capture of anything from delicate piano performances to pounding drums. The custom shockmount not only inhibits stand-borne vibrations, but also complements the striking appearance of the TF10. As is traditional with solid-state studio condenser mics, the TF10 utilizes a balanced XLR 3-pin output and 48V phantom powering.3-Chambered CapsuleThe heart of the TF10 is a proprietary cardioid capsule designed by the company’s owner and chief engineer, Dr. Mark Fouxman. The single-sided capsule features three chambers¡ªthe 1st and 2nd chambers shape the capsule’s frequency response while the 3rd sets time delay. This 3-chamber independence not only allows precise optimization of all parameters, but also ensures superior frequency and phase integrity in off-axis response, so it takes EQ very well. The construction and use of special materials eliminates the capsule’s parasitic capacitances and ensures low distortion and ultimate transparency, providing a very realistic sound picture. The capsule has been designed to work without reliance on a DC-to-DC bias converter, which reduces distortions even further.Acoustically Optimized BodySpecial attention has been paid to the acoustical optimization of the TF10 microphone body, where the capsule itself serves as a lollipop, without any surrounding external body. This arrangement eliminates any interference from sound waves. On its bottom, the capsule/lollipop is mounted on a specially shaped acoustical lens.
