From the NAB 2015 trade show floor, B&H Photo¡¯s Steven Gladstone met up with Jesse Mineo, from Canon, to get a first look at the recently announced C300 Mark II and XC10 4K camcorders. He also visited with Canon¡¯s Chuck Westfall, who discusses the company¡¯s CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm ENG-style Zoom lens.
The Canon C300 Mark II is not just an upgrade from the previous model; it¡¯s a brand-new camera. Mineo highlights the new features, which include a new sensor, dual DIGIC V processors, and XF-AVC internal recording at 4K, 2K, and HD. Video is recorded to CFast 2.0 cards, with frame rates up to 30p at 4K resolution, 60p at HD, and up to 120p in a 2K-crop mode. Other notable features mentioned by Mineo include the camera¡¯s 15 stops of dynamic range, built-in ND filters, and the new die-cast body/frame and fan design.

In addition to the C300 Mark II, Jesse Mineo showcases Canon¡¯s new XC10 4K Camcorder that packs a lot of big-time features into a small body. In particular, Mineo highlights the camera¡¯s internal 4K recording, 12 stops of dynamic range, and XF-AVC codec. It has a CFast 2.0 slot for 4K video and an SD card slot for HD video and still photos. Additional features mentioned include the camera¡¯s built-in 10x zoom lens, tiltable rear LCD screen, and included viewfinder loupe.

Rounding out Canon¡¯s NAB coverage is a look at the new CINE-SERVO 50-1000mm lens. Canon¡¯s Chuck Westfall gives a quick breakdown of the ENG-style zoom lens, which joins the 17-120mm in the CINE-SERVO lineup, and features a built-in 1.5x extender to provide a 75mm to 1500mm zoom range. It is available with an EF or PL lens mount.
