R?DE VideoMic Pro with Rycote Lyre Suspension Mount

The?B&H SuperStore?is pleased to announce the R?DE VideoMic Pro, a true miniature shotgun microphone designed for use with DSLR cameras, camcorders, and portable audio recorders. The VideoMic Pro features an all-new ?” condenser capsule that provides broadcast-quality audio via a 3.5mm mini jack. The supercardioid polar pattern ensures that surrounding audio is minimized, while the recording is focused on the subject in front of the camera.
The microphone outputs a mono signal to both left and right channels and offers a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, with a selectable high-pass 80 Hz filter to prevent low-end noise from traffic or air conditioners. The power indicator and controls are on the rear of the mic, which helps prevent the camera operator from forgetting to turn on the mic before a take. Additionally, the level settings are also conveniently located on the back of the mic and allow for the boosting or attenuating of the recording level. A -10 dB pad is offered for the recording of loud sound sources, such as live music, motorsports, or close miked interviews. A +20 dB boost is also available, which allows for the on-camera preamp to be lowered, resulting in less noise and hiss being generated and recorded by the camera.

The VideoMic Pro features a Rycote Lyre-based shockmount, built from a single piece of hard-wearing thermoplastic. It separates the VideoMic Pro capsule and electronics from its mount, providing isolation from external physical factors that may cause unwanted rumble and vibrations in the microphone. This suspension will never wear out, sag, or snap. The mic uses a standard-sized shoe mount for on-camera use and features a 3/8″ thread in the base for easy boompole mounting. The mic provides more than 70 hours of recording from a single 9V battery. B&H is also offering the VideoMic Pro Kit, which includes a windjammer that fits over the existing windscreen to provide up to -30 dB of wind-noise reduction when recording outdoors. The VideoMic Pro is covered by an unprecedented 10-year warranty.
